In the face of adversity

“But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes.” (1 John 2:11)

In order to deal with adversity, as a child of God, we must do it according to the Word. We have to stand strong against evil, but remember vengeance belongs to the Lord – otherwise we can’t say we belong to Christ Jesus.

We can not ignore how the world has influenced the church to ignore Truth and even turn on each other. If you truly love as the Word tells us to love, you must let your voice be heard at every opportunity – while we still can. This is especially true at every single election at every level. Focusing on one election every four years facilitated the mess we see at city and state levels. Elected official can’t do this – we are responsible for what we have seen in the streets.

We know how this ends and that grace has been poured out on us. At this point all we owe is love. A social media open forum is not the place to work out differences. The Word tells us clearly what steps to take: ““If a fellow believer hurts you, go and tell him—work it out between the two of you. If he listens, you’ve made a friend. If he won’t listen, take one or two others along so that the presence of witnesses will keep things honest, and try again. If he still won’t listen, tell the church. If he won’t listen to the church, you’ll have to start over from scratch, confront him with the need for repentance, and offer again God’s forgiving love.” (Matthew 18:15-17)

We should never allow ourselves to be incited to respond in hate. If you are dealing with a non-believer, forgiving love is what you offer.
